Vampire's Bug Out Bag

Material Speculation is the concept of coming up with objects that create and are a part of alternate universes through decisions made by the people encountering those objects. That is to say material speculation is about creating an object that considers an alternate universe. The works within the series, A Vampire’s Bug Out Bag, take into consideration a universe where vampires exist, but there still exist prejudices against them in older people. The pieces within this collection are all objects that a vampire might use to fit in better with human society. These pieces are every day objects that belong to a specific vampire who is visiting his mother-in-law and doesn’t necessarily want his mother-in-law to find out that he is a vampire. The artists working in this set each researched issues vampires might have fitting in with normal human society and designed products for our vampire to is bring with him on his nerve-wracking weekend.

Garlic Breath Spray is a work by Jacob Cassell that solves two problems our vampire has. He must conceal his dead person breath as well as hide his inability to be in the presence of garlic. For one reason or another, he might be accused by passersby of being a vampire, he could cover it up by pointing out his breath smells like garlic, as garlic is a vampire’s worst nightmare.
